World Festival of Animated Film Varna

About

The World Festival of Animated Film in Varna is a successor of the famous festival from the 1980s, which was one of the five most important festivals in the world, organized under the patronage of ASIFA. In 2011 more than 300 films from all over the world were shown and the visitors were able to participate in the creative workshops that took place during the festival days.

Awards

• Grand Prix, including a EUR 5 000 cash prize;
• Varna Municipality Award, including a EUR 3 000 cash prize;
• Best Short Film Award, including a EUR 2 500 cash prize;
• Best Feature Film Award, including a EUR 2 500 cash prize;
• Best Children Film Award, including a EUR 2 500 cash prize;
• Best Graduation Film Award, including a EUR 2 500 cash prize.

No Best Film Award shall be granted in the category where the Grand Prix has been awarded.

Rules

The film must have been completed after 1st of January 2022 and have not participated in a previous edition of the Festival.
The running time (according to the category in which the film participates) must be up to 20 min for short films, and over 60 min for feature films.
One episode, not exceeding 20 min, is allowed for the TV series category.

Documents and Other Requisite Items

• Fill out the online Entry Form;
• The copies for the official selection are to be uploaded only online either at the FTP server provided by the WFAF organizers, or sent via a download link.

Required Information for the online Entry Form

• Short autobiography and filmography of the director (500 characters max.).
• Director’s photo (minimum 1600/1200 pixels, JPEG, obligatory).
• Three still images from the film (1920/1080 pixels, JPEG, obligatory).
• Annotation of the film (500 characters max.).
• A digital copy of the film for the selection.
• In case of voice-over screen commentary and/or dialogue in a language different from the official languages of the Festival, the films must be submitted with embedded English subtitles and an English dialogue list, or English subtitles list must be provided.
• Promotional materials (posters, flyers, etc.) for better presentation of the film (optional). Providing a high resolution poster is obligatory for feature films (minimum A4 size with 300 dpi).
