Toronto After Dark Film Festival is one of the world’s leading showcases of new horror, sci-fi, action and cult films. 

As well as the screenings, festivalgoers also look forward to the lively Q&A's with filmmakers, as well as Pub After Dark, our popular nightly social event where fans get to hang out with the filmmakers! In a poll of local filmgoers, Toronto After Dark was also voted Runner-Up for Best Film Festival in the City.

Awards

• AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARDS - FOR BEST OVERALL FILM (Features and Shorts): The Best Feature and Best Short Films as determined by a poll of all festival-goers at screenings. Over 3,000 votes are typically cast every year, with Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards given to films in each category.
• FAN AWARDS FOR SPECIALTY CATEGORY WINNERS (Features): Determined by a poll of over 200 Festival Pass Buyers, filmmakers can win in such fun categories as Best Kill, Scariest Film, and Most Original Film as well as genre specific categories including Best Sci-Fi, Best Action and Best Horror Film.

Rules

• International and independent thrilling genre cinema including short and feature films in the genres of Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Action, Animation, Crime, Thriller, Suspense, Cult, Bizarre, Genre-defying, Dark Comedy, Experimental, Music Video and Documentary.
• Films completed after January 1st, 2021.
• Completed Films, Works-in-Progress and Rough Cuts all acceptable for submission.
• Run time of between 1 and 29 minutes (shorts) and of 60 minutes or longer (features).

Toronto After Dark only accepts online screeners (no mail-in discs) submitted via these film festival submission platforms: Film Freeway and Withoutabox (WAB).
