The CIFF was recognized as one of the 50 leading film festivals in the world by IndieWIRE. In March 2012, Ohio’s premier film event featured over 300 films originating from over 60 countries and an attendance of over 85,000 - making the CIFF one of the largest and longest running regional film festivals in the US.

Rules

  • Productions made after June 1, 2016 may be submitted, with the exception of those works previously submitted to the CIFF;
  • Do not submit works in progress;
  • Entries previously screened in Cleveland or aired on television in Cleveland or are available on the web (ie Youtube, Vimeo) prior to the Festival will not be considered.
  • All linear films under 45 minutes are considered short films.

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • Fill out online entry form or register via Withoutabox or Filmfreeway systems;
  • Pay registration fees;
  • All films must be submitted as either an online screener or vimeo link.

The Festival will cover
outbound shipping only.

Screening Media Type. Features: DCP (preferably unencrypted) or as a CIFF-approved ProRes digital file. Shorts: a CIFF-approved ProRes digital file

Our New Media program is designed to showcase interactive storytelling, using new and innovative forms of media and technology, resulting in a live presentation at the festival. Some examples of New Media include cross-platform films, multi-media installations, websites, and interactive gaming. Content can be narrative, documentary, animation, or experimental, but must include an interactive element and a nonlinear presentation. If your submission meets the criteria for this category, you MUST email us directly at submissions @clevelandfilm.org prior to submitting, with a description, a link or links to examples of the project, and an estimated cost of and needed equipment for presentation.
