About

Festival was established in 1989 and over the years it has developed a worldwide reputation for excellence in children’s programming and is currently the largest award-winning children’s film festival in Great Britain and Ireland.

The festival includes international film screenings, movie premieres, special guests, discussions, competitions and master classes in all aspects of filmmaking.

Awards

  • Best feature film for a young adult audience (The Golden Reel Award) — judged by a jury of young people aged 18-25 (CineFocus Jury 18+)
  • Best feature film for a teenage audience (The Silver Reel Award) — judged by a jury of young people aged 15-17 (CineFocus Jury 15+)
  • Best feature film for a youth audience (The Emerald Reel Award) — judged by a jury of young people aged 12-14 (CineFocus Jury 12+)
  • Best feature film for a junior audience (The Golden Star Award) — judged by a jury of young people aged 10-11 (CineSeekers Jury 10+)
  • Best feature film for a young audience (The Silver Star Award) — judged by a jury of young people aged 8-9 (CineSeekers Jury 8+)
  • Best feature film for a children’s audience (The Emerald Star Award) — judged by a jury of young people aged 6-7 (CineSeekers Jury 6+)
  • Best short film for a secondary school audience (Jury’s Out Award 15+) — Judged by a secondary schools (ages 15+)
  • Best short film for a secondary jnr school audience (Jury’s Out Award 12+) — Judged by secondary jnr schools (ages 12+)
  • Best short film for a primary school audience (Jury’s Out Award 8+) — Judged by primary schools (ages 8+)

Rules

Films made within the years 2020−2022 are eligible for competition. We are interested in all types of films and programmes for children and young people from preschool through to young adult.

Feature films must be at least 60 minutes long and shorts must be less than 60 minutes in duration.  

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • To enter, please send an online screener link along with a completed competition entry form to chris@cinemagic.org.uk
  • Alternatively we do accept postal entries on DVD (PAL) format
  • The entry form should be accompanied by the following:
    • Production Information, including cast/credits
    • Brief biography of director(s), filmography & a recent photo/image of the filmmaker(s)
    • At least two hi-res images from the production. These must be sent electronically to chris@cinemagic.org.uk as jpegs or tifs
    • Downloadable links to film trailer (English Version)
    • Press materials and posters (EPK).
