International film festival for youth.

About

The festival aims to encourage production, making and distribution of quality films.  Particular attention is given to films that stimulate the knowledge and understanding between people and cultures through artistic, pedagogical and humanitarian focus. The festival aims to actively involve school institutions.

The festival is composed of 3 competitive sections and includes other non-competitive sections.

Competition:

  • 6–15 competition,
  • 16–20 competition, 
  • Castellincorto competition (short films).

Awards

6–15 competition:

  • CASTELLO (gold, silver, bronze) to the three best films in competition, worth respectively SFR. 3000 for gold, 2000 for silver and 1000 for bronze, intended to the filmmakers
  • ASPI (Italian Swiss Foundation for the Support and Protection of Children) for the film that best embodies children’s right to respect
  • UNICEF Award to the film that best matches one or more children's rights
  • An autonomous jury, constituted of students coming from French area of Switzerland, awards the “Fuori le mura” Prize

16–20 competition:

  • TRE CASTELLI to the best film in competition, worth SFR. 3000, intended to filmmaker
  • ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH: QUALITY OF LIFE to the film that best handles environmental and quality of life issues, worth SFR. 1000, intended to filmmaker
  • UTOPIA to the film that best spreads utopia’s fascination, newness, inner search, dream, courage, togetherness, justice, beauty. The winner is offered a creative week stay at Fondazione Monte Verità in Ascona.

 

Rules

  • 6–15 COMPETITION: Feature films of recent production, lasting at least 60 minutes, made under recent cinematographic standards, devoted to a public up to the age of fifteen years.
  • 16–20 COMPETITION: Feature films of recent production, lasting at least 60 minutes, made under recent cinematographic standards, devoted to a public from sixteen years.
  • Films shown in the feature competitions must not have been released in Ticino. They can have been screened in other non-Swiss Festivals.
  • The Castellincorto competition is reserved to short films directed by students of film schools or audiovisual trade schools enrolled for the current academic year or former university students enrolled for the preceding academic year. Only films finished after January 1st, 20167will be accepted. Only shorts lasting a maximum of 18 minutes (including titles and credits) are eligible.

To submit a feature film fill out the entry form and send DVD of the film or provide the online link.

The submission process of short films to Castellinaria Festival is managed by the platform Shortfilmdepot.com.

Premiere Requirements

Regional premiere required.
