Biography

Script writer and director, a member of Documentary Film and TV Association, a member of the Russian Union of Filmmakers, curator of Student Films Competition at the IDFF Flahertiana. Olga Averkieva was born in Perm. In 2013 she graduated the documentary directing workshop of Pavel Petchenkin. During the studing she actively worked as the assistant of a director, the film editor and the director with the Perm Filmstudio "Noviy Kurs". In 2013 she got a Grand Prix of the pitching Dragon forum (Krakow) with the project "Prodigal son". In 2015 she produced her debut “Schoolboy’s mate”. Also she is the organizer of the Student competition of the IDFF "Flahertiana".

Directors Statement

This is a story of those who had no luck to find themselves in the situation they don’t deserve. The diagnosis of “slight mental retardation” condemned them from the age of 18 to live with the mentally ill. When I met N, G and K, I couldn’t see why they were said to be deficient? They are like you and me, no big difference. They make their plans, fall in love and suffer. They wanted very much to be filmed in the hope that the others will see their unhappy destiny. This is how I made this film.
