About

The European Youth Film Festival is an annual several-day screening event of European audiovisual creations in Antwerp and Bruges. In addition to film screenings, the festival draws special attention to an audiovisual framework. Throughout the year we organize additional activities to support our principal activity. The festival’s main target audience consists of young film enthusiasts but our general principle is not to exclude anyone. The festival has a comprehensive audience reach and an international dimension.

Program

In competition:

European shorts & feature films (age 8 – 12).

Out of competition:

ExtraJEFF – Additional programme – European shorts and features (age 6 -12);
Cut the Crap – European shorts & feature films for youngsters (age 12+);
Programme for young children – European shorts & features (age 3+).

Awards

Three juries will present the awards of the festival: a professional jury, a children’s jury in Antwerp and Bruges. Besides these juries, the audience also awards the best feature film by voting.

For the feature films in competition the festival presents a distribution prize in collaboration with Jekino. The Belgian distributor Jekino will have the final decision on which film will be bought and distributed.

The professional jury will choose the best European short film and award it with the short film prize.

Rules

Restirctions

European feature films for children (age 8-12) produced within the 24 months prior to the festival can be selected for the competition programme, provided that the film has not been released in Flanders. Productions 60 minutes or longer are considered features;
European short films, live action and animation, produced within the 24 months prior to the festival can be selected for the competition programme. Productions no longer than 15 minutes are considered shorts although there are exceptions to be made.
