About

The «shnit International Shortfilmfestival» is a premier venue for the exhibition and promotion of short film. The festvial is an exceptional event with a unique concept – a transnational film festival simultaneously taking place in ten PLAYGROUND cities on five continents worldwide.

Awards

In total a prize money of US-$ 100.000* is awarded. The following prizes will be awarded in the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION 2016: 

  •  THE FLAMING FAUN – shnit JURY AWARD. Category up to 10 Minutes (incl. credits), US-$5000
  •  THE FLAMING FAUN – shnit JURY AWARD. Category up to 20 Minutes (incl. credits), US-$5000
  • THE FLAMING FAUN – shnit JURY AWARD. Category up to 40 Minutes (incl. credits), US-$5000
  • THE FLAMING FAUN – shnit PLAYGROUNDS AWARD. Audience Choice, US-$5000
  • THE FLAMING FAUN – shnit CINEMAS AWARD. Audience Choice, US-$5000

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION winners must attend the award ceremony on October 29th 2017 in New York City in order to receive the award, the cash prize and the statuette THE FLAMING FAUN. NATIONAL COMPETITION winners must attend the relevant national awards ceremony on October 22nd 2017 to receive their award. 

Rules

  • Maximum running time: 40 minutes (including credits),
  • Films must have been completed after 1st of June 2015.
  • The festival does not require any premiere status but notes that this  may come into consideration during the selection process.
  • Several films may be submitted.

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • Fill out entry form,
  • Preview copies are accepted on the following formats by mail (PAL or NTSC): DVD, BluRay, hard drive or USB pen drive. Send DVD with film or upload via Filmfestivallife, Filmfreeway, Uptofest, Shortfilmdepot, or Withoutabox.
  • Film stills: preferably 2 different high-definition film stills, TIFF or JPEG, 300dpi or higher. Email to: stills@shnit.org.

The participant is responsible for the costs of sending the screening copy to the festival. The festival covers the costs of returning or forwarding screening copies.

The directors of selected films are invited to be guests of the festival and the festival may cover the expenses of their stay (private accommodations, professional accreditation).
