Reykjavik International Film Festival

About

The festival’s program shows around 100 titles with special attention given to progressive, independent and artistically authentic work. Documentaries with a focus on environment and human rights are welcome. Panel talks, lectures and debates. 

Program

• New Visions (Grand Prix Competition): first or second film of up-and-coming directors;
• Special Presentations: well known international filmmakers with important awards at international film festivals;
• Open Seas: acclaimed films from international film directors;
• WORLD docs / CULTUREdocs / GREENdocs/ MUSICdocs / FOODdocs: international documentary films;
• Youth Program;
• Midnight Movies: Low-budget films, b-films, experimental and alternative works;
• Icelandic Panorama;
• Focus on: film production from a certain country;
• Emerging Masters: tribute to a film maker;
• Focus on (works of the Honorary Guest): films of the recipient of the RIFF Honorary Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Awards

Main prize is awarded to a directors' first or second feature in competitive section, New Visions.

Rules

• Feature films, documentaries, short films and short documentaries are accepted.
• The films have to be produced after January 1st, 2023 and must not have premiered formally in Iceland before. Neither should they be open for public viewing online.
• Subtitles language: English

Documents and Other Requisite Items

• Fill out entry form via special on-line system;
• Online screeners are preferred, but entries may also be submitted on DVD or USB drives.

National premiere required.
