Hamburg International Queer Film Festival

About

This audience event, presenting an extensive number of films with a homosexual context, is meeting with increasing interest on the part of the press and industry. By broadening the festival´s concept to integrate workshops and topical discussions, the organizers are in the process of enhancing the significance of their event.

This is already having its effect: a great number of German premieres use Hamburg as a launching point to find their way into other German festivals with a similar orientation. The festival actively assists in the search for German distributors. Panel discussions and several meeting points for guests of the festival. The festival is the oldest of its kind in Germany.

• International Short Film; 
• Feature Length Film and Documentary Film Competition (European productions and co-productions); 
• Feature Length Film and Documentary Competition (worldwide); 
• Made in Germany Competition.

Awards

Jury Award Best Feature (Euro 5,000).

Audience awards:

• Ursula (Best Short Film, 3x Euro 1,000)
• Dokula (Best Documentary Feature, Euro 1,000)
• Globola (Best Fiction Feature, Euro 1,000)
• Best German Short

Rules

• No restrictions regarding length; 
• Hamburg premiere;
• Short film: 30 min. or less; 
• Not older than 3 years; 
• Previous participation in other festivals possible.

Documents and Other Requisite Items

• Download, print and fill out entry form;
• Send DVD with film by mail or download work via Internet; 
• Include the necessary press material with entry form, such as photos and a short description (this can be emailed at film@lsf-hamburg.de).
