About

PUNTO Y RAYA FESTIVAL seeks to recapture the spirit of Cinéma Pure and Absolute Film formulated by the European avant-garde in the 1920s, consolidating this unique artform laying at the intersection between Fine Arts and Media.

Consolidated since 2007 as the world event for Abstract Art in Motion, the festival invites artists to explore audiovisual arts in their purest state: Form, Colour, Motion and Sound. No representation!

The event takes place every two years in a different country, co-produced and hosted by major art centres and museums across Europe, including Reina Sofia Museum (Madrid), CCCB Centre for Contemporary Culture (Barcelona), HARPA Concert Hall (Reykjavík), ZKM (Karlsruhe), CeTA Audiovisual Technology Center (Wroclaw), and Austrian FilmMuseum (Vienna), amongst others.

The NINTH International Call for Entries is currently open, with FREE ONLINE SUBMISSIONS. Deadline is August 3rd,  2020.

The ninth edition of PUNTO Y RAYA FESTIVAL will run OCTOBER 8-11th 2020 in Vienna, Austria.

Rules

• All people in the world are eligible to participate in this festival, whatever their age and formation.
• The films must be made entirely with abstract imagery, avoiding representation.
• You can use any technique you want: drawing, video composition, cgi, scratch, op·art, stop·motion, camera·less...
• The Soundtrack cannot feature any words. If you're using a song, this must be completely instrumental or feature non·narrative voices [that is, no lyrics!].
• Maximum running time is 8 minutes.

Fill out the online entry form and provide the film in FULL HD / 1080p (1920 x 1080 / 24fps / progressive scan).

Submission formats: .MOV | .MP4. We kindly request not to compress the videos, or if needed, use Apple ProRes, H264 or x264 (lossless) codecs. 

Premiere Requirements

No premiere requirement
