About
The Gijón International Film Festival aims to present the newest trends of young cinema worldwide. Films made by or for young people but, above all, films that reflect creativity, independence and innovation.
Some of the most prestigious professionals in independent filmmaking have attended the festival, as subjects of retrospectives and homages, such as Paul Schrader, Aki Kaurismäki, Todd Haynes, João César Monteiro, Todd Solondz, Tsai Ming-liang.
Program
The Festival programme will include Outlines, Seasons, Retrospectives, etc. of films adding certain cultural elements considered to be interesting for young spectators and the general audience as well.
During the Festival many other events take place, such as courses, round tables, meetings with the directors as well as concerts and music live parties.

YOUTH JURY. OFFICIAL SELECTION:
“ENFANTS TERRIBLES”: 5.000 €
AUDIENCE AWARD “RELLUMES” SECTION: 5.000 Euros for the Best Film among those selected for this competitive section.
“DÍA D’ ASTURIES” AWARD For Best Short Film: a cash prize of 2,000 €uros.
Rules
Features and shorts opting for selection in both competitive and non-competitive sections can be submitted in the following ways:
The Festival Organization will cover an insurance policy for all the prints from the moment these are handed to the shipping company until they are returned to the participant. Any claim regarding the condition of prints returned must be made within one month after it’s returned.

Festival awards are decided upon by an International Jury (made up of at least 5 professionals from different countries), a Young Jury (50 young people between 17 and 26 years of age) and, since 2005, a FIPRESCI jury.
