Open All-Russian Video Contest
About
We invite young filmmakers from all over Russia to take part in the Arctic in Focus Open All–Russian Video Contest (hereinafter referred to as the Video Contest) and show their unique perspective on:
● Historical, cultural and natural heritage of the Arctic;
● Development of the Northern Sea Route;
● Achievements of the Arctic regions of Russia.
The video contest is held within the framework of the international cultural and educational project "The Great Northern Campaign. The Arctic as Art" (hereinafter referred to as the Project), organized by the Center for Arctic Initiatives (hereinafter referred to as the Organizer) and dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Russian history of the development of the Northern Sea Route.
Topics of video work:
1. "The Northern Sea Route: personalities, events, riddles"
(historical events and key personalities of the past and present related to the development of the Northern Sea Route)
2. "Past, present and future: the connection of times and generations"
(preservation of traditions in the North, turning points in the history of the Arctic and their impact on modernity)
3. "Northern soul: way of life and culture"
(the unique way of life of the inhabitants of the North and the culture of indigenous peoples)
4. "My life in the North"
(personal and family stories, peculiarities of life and work of Northerners)
5. "The Arctic and the Far East of the Future"
(futuristic projects, forecasts and ideas for the development of any locality or region of the Arctic zone of Russia or the Far East)
6. "Romance of the North"
(works inspired by your favorite works of art)
7. "Bloggers about the Arctic"
(vlogs, show formats)
8. "Peaceful Atom and the Arctic"
(the history of the nuclear industry and its role in the development of our country).
Awards
● Shortlisted participants will receive branded accessories for working with videos.
● The winners in each of the nominations will receive sets of professional equipment for working with videos (10 winners in total).
● The winners will be invited to Moscow to be awarded and to present their work at a special screening.
● The special prize of the jury is a trip to the Arctic; the program and dates of the trip will be agreed with the winner in accordance with his interests.
Rules
Technical requirements for video works: MP4 or MOV formats (H.264 codec); resolution: Full HD (1920x1080) or 2K; bitrate: up to 25 Mbit/s; duration: from 1 to 20 minutes;
The maximum weight of a file containing a video work is 5 GB; video works are accepted in the format of a link to the Yandex.Disk file sharing service.
The application includes a biography of the director in free form of up to 2 pages (Word or PDF);
The application includes an abstract for the film of up to 1 page (Word or PDF).;
The application includes still images from the work (1000000 x 1440, 3-10 files, JPG or PNG, in the format of a link to the Yandex.Disk file sharing service).
Applications submitted to the competition must not violate the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Video works must be directed by the participant personally and independently in compliance with copyright laws.
Submitting a video work to the competition should not violate the exclusive rights of the co-authors of the video work (if there are co-authors.
Premiere Requirements
World premiere required.
