About

The festival offers a contemporary and liberal platform for the filmmakers of the World to exhibit the excellence of the film art form. The aim is mainly to contribute to the understanding and appreciation of cultures of different nations. We hope to present complex human situations of this rapidly changing world in the globalised era. The Festival Committee reserves the right to exclude films which are not in conformity with aims of the Festival, or which could offend the national feelings and susceptibilities of any participating country, or are likely to promote racial discrimination. Films not presenting sufficient technical qualities for good public screening can be refused after checking of the prints by the Print Checking Unit of the Film Festival Office.

  • Best documentary, 
  • Best animation, 
  • Best experimental.
  • Audience Special Jury Award [non cash].

Rules

  • Films must be feature films. The film should be of minimum 70 min.;
  • Films entered for Competition section in World Cinema must have been completed on or after 24 months;
  • Films entered for Non Competition section has no time limit;
  • Foreign Films that have been previously screened publicly in Abuja, aired on Nigerian television prior to the Festival, or are available for online viewing in their entirety are NOT eligible. (For World Cinema);
  • Works in progress are NOT eligible.

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • Fill out entry form,
  • Send DVD with submitted film by mail.

Additional Information

The Insurance of prints in transit from the country of origin to the Film Festival Office and from the Festival Office to the country of origin will be the responsibility of the entrant, the Festival Office will insure the prints against damage, partial and total, by fire, theft or any other unnatural causes from the moment it takes delivery of the print to the moment it hands them back to the concerned airline/ agency for dispatch.
