Yuri Bykov is a director, screenwriter and actor born in 1981 in Russia. He studied acting at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), and performed at various Moscow theatres after graduating in 2005. A year later, Bykov started to direct short films and write screenplays. In 2009, his short film THE BOSS, in which he also plays the lead role, won first prize in the Short Film Competition at the Kinotavr Film Festival, and was screened at the Interfest 25th International Short Film Festival. In 2010, he directed LIVE!, his first feature film. In 2013, he then directed THE MAJOR which was selected within Cannes Critics' Week. His latest film, THE FOOL, was recently nominated for a Golden Leopard at the 2014 edition Film Festival Locarno.
