Biography

My name is Carlos and I am an Art Historian specialised in Contemporary Art. I am originally from Spain and I have had an interest in stories since I was a kid, whether they came from books, videogames, or movies. Stories with different narratives not only entertain, they give us an approach in experiencing how our world works, is organised and develops, providing a better understanding of our self-existentialism.

Directors Statement

“El Origen” began as a concept piece to showcase light and its many facets. Carlos & myself discussed the idea while travelling in Germany and developed it from there over a year. It was created through the mutual interest in light and its immense importance to our world. The project developed to encompass a more existential approach to lights significance to humanity and Earth. We decided to show the relevance of light from a prehistoric era up until modern times. The reason we decided on this approach was to make the film more encompassing by use of a multi-faceted approach to the topic of light. We revealed the intricacies of light by journeying through Granada and the south of Spain. The locations were ideal for us to address the many themes concerning the importance of light. The style of our film intends to provide an almost dreamy atmosphere to immerse the audience into the beauty of the light. Overall our vision was thus to give a succinct exploration of the journey of humanity and how light has guided our way to the present day.
