The documentary project In Search of Andrei Rublev explores the remarkable life and work of the great artist, as well as the spiritual phenomenon behind Russian icons. Filming took place in historic locations where the legacy of Ancient Rus and Andrei Rublev's works have been preserved, from the unique frescoed churches of the Vladimir-Suzdal Nature Reserve to the country's leading museums, including the centre of Orthodox Russia: the Holy Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. However, the project does more than simply film in historical locations; it also reconstructs Andrei Rublev's era. The iconographer is portrayed by actor Kirill Kyaro.
