A documentary film festival is always a discovery. The discovery of new stories, new facets of our lives, new names.

Our festival will combine the traditions of classical documentary cinema and new forms of audience documentary content. It is at the intersection of different formats that the New is born - a new language of documentary cinema truth.

Awards

The Unknown Russia Film Festival awards the following prizes:

- "Best Film" in the category "History of Russia" - the prize is awarded by the professional jury of the competition;

- Best Film" in the category "Ethno-Culture" - the prize is awarded by the professional jury of the competition;

- Best Film" in the category "Popular Science Film" - the prize is awarded by the professional jury of the competition;

- Best Film" in the category "Character" - the prize is awarded by the professional jury of the competition;

- Best Film in the Geography category - the prize is awarded by the professional jury of the competition;

- Best Film" in the category "Production and Technological Films" - the prize is awarded by the professional jury of the competition;

- "Audience Choice Award" - the winner is determined by audience vote.

The Organizing Committee of the Film Festival reserves the right to introduce additional nominations.

Rules

- The decision on the film's participation is made by the Selection Committee, which agrees on its participation with the film's copyright holder (director, producer, sales agent or local distributor);

- The decision on the picture's participation is made by a vote of the Selection Committee:

- Festival Program Director - 3 votes;

- Two selectors of the competition - 2 votes each;

- Non-fiction films corresponding to the program concept of the Festival are invited to participate in the Festival;

- Films containing information the dissemination of which is prohibited by the legislation of the Russian Federation or containing obscene language, as well as films for which distribution certificates have been denied and films for which distribution certificates have been revoked in accordance with the approved Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 143 of 27 February 2016 "On Approval of the Rules for the Issuance, Refusal to Issue and Revocation of a Distribution Certificate for a Film and the Rules for Maintaining the State Film Register" are not allowed to participate in the Unknown Russia Film Festival.
