Far Eastern Colorful Film Festival Tihij

About

The Far Eastern Festival of Colorful Cinema "Tihij" will be held in the city of Khabarovsk from September 28 to October 2, 2026. The festival will feature film screenings, lectures, and workshops in both in-person and online formats. After the festival, venues can apply for the "Echo" of the festival in any city or region of the Far East and the Russian Federation within a month. Venues are required to comply with the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and provide photo reports with the full name of the festival.

We don't just show movies; we create a cohesive film community in the Far East. Far Eastern cinema is a unique culture that grows from the creative freedom and distinctiveness of its regions. The film festival legitimizes and promotes the uniqueness of the Far East in a mass format, turning it into a brand that is understood by the entire country, and providing a powerful impetus for aspiring filmmakers through extensive feedback from the audience.
 

The Festival's goals are as follows:
1. To create a cultural platform for residents of the Far Eastern regions and other constituent entities of the Russian Federation to get acquainted with the film-making of Far Eastern authors;
2. To consolidate the regional film-making communities of the Far East around a common mission;
3. To promote the cultural and investment image of the Far East;

The Festival's objectives are as follows:
1. To select and showcase the best regional films about the Far East;
2. To foster dialogue between filmmakers, authorities, businesses, cultural institutions, and residents of the Far Eastern regions.
3. Support for young directors and debuting authors.
4. Improvement of the qualifications of filmmakers through educational events, including through receiving feedback on their works from the professional and audience environment.
5. Creation of a network community of professionals of the film industry of the Far East.

Awards

Short Film Competition:
Best Debut - Diploma for the Best Debut Feature Film;
Jury Prize - Diploma for the Original Artistic Solution;
Special Distinction for Directing - Diploma for the Best Directing;

Documentary Film Competition:

Best Short Documentary Film - Diploma for the Best Documentary Film;
Jury Prize - Diploma for Social Significance;
Special Distinction for Cinematography - Diploma for the Original Cinematographic Solution;
Best Short Film - Grand Prix;
 Audience Award - Award from the sponsor (determined by online audience voting) is listed in Appendix 2.

Rules

1. The Festival may be attended by directors and producers from the Far East, as well as from other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, provided that the film was shot in the territory of the Far East. It is acceptable to participate by directors and producers from the countries of the near abroad.
2. Films must be about the Far East or created in the territory of the Far East;
3. When selecting films and when forming the program of the Festival, preference is given to authors from the regions of the Far East.
4. The Festival program is formed by the selection committee and the program director of the Festival.
5. A Russian and a world premiere is not required. Films released in the Russian distribution or available for viewing on the Internet or on online platforms are allowed to participate in the competitions.
6. Participation in the Festival is free.
7. The Organizing Committee has the right to independently invite the authors of films with a festival history to participate in the Festival.

 Technical requirements
Format: Apple Pro Res, MOV, MP4;
Resolution: Full HD (1920 × 1080) or higher;
Subtitles: required in Russian (if the film is not in Russian);
Original language: Russian, English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and the traditional languages of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Russian Far East. 
The deadline for providing copies is specified in Appendix 1.

The festival's jury and organizers are represented by the heads of film associations and proactive participants from various regions of the Far East.
