About

The Festival is recognized for its ability to promote and offer a venue for young and unestablished filmmakers. As many as a third of the films selected are made by a debuting director and only directors who have made less than 3 films are selected for the competition.

The aim for Stockholm International Film Festival is to broaden the selection of films inSwedenwith creative new films of high quality and offer the visitor an orientation within modern film to stimulate a continuing debate.

Awards

Following the decision of an official festival jury of film critics, filmmakers, actors and producers, the Stockholm International Film Festival Awards, The Bronze & Aluminium Horses will be presented to competing feature films in the following categories:

  • best film (Bronze Horse),
  • best documentary (Bronze Horse), 
  • best screenplay (Aluminium Horse),
  • best cinematography (Aluminium Horse),
  • best actor (Aluminium Horse),
  • best actress (Aluminium Horse),
  • best first feature film (Aluminium Horse),
  • best short film (Aluminium Horse).

The Stockholm International Film Festival virtual award will be presented to the films in the category ifestival. Following the decision of an unofficial world wide festival jury of people from around the world with access to internet.

Rules

  • We consider all films over 72 minutes to be feature films, and all films under 30 minutes to be shorts.
  • Films should not have been released in their country of origin earlier than the 20th of November 2023 and should not have opened to the public or been screened at any festival in Sweden.
  • Festival doesn't charge anything for Swedish films.

National premiere required.
