About

JIFF is now recognized as one of the most important film festivals in Asia and global barometer of current film movement that introduces Independent and Experimental films from around the world. JIFF will grow every year and greet the audience with more diverse programs.
We are accepting your submission for feature films including fiction, documentaries, animations, experimental films, and so on. Most especially the “International Competition” Section is the main program at the JIFF. International Competition is a competition section for the films of newcomers across the world, showing the potential of new aesthetics and explore hidden dimensions of cinematic arts. This section will present feature films and documentaries over 60 minutes.

Awards

  • Grand Prize (JB Bank Award): A cash award of KRW 20 million (approx. 18,000 USD) and trophy will be given to one film screened in International Film Competition that contributes to widen the scope and the depth in the contemporary cinema, selected by five International Film Competition jury members.
  • Special Jury Prize (Woosuk Award): A cash award of 10,000 USD and trophy will be given to one film screened in International Film Competition.
  • Special Jury Prize : A cash award of KRW 7 million (approx. 5,000 USD) and trophy will be given to one film screened in International Film Competition.

Rules

  • The entries must be the director(s)’ first or second feature.
  • The entries must be longer than 60-minute length of fiction, documentary, experimental or animation and others.
  • The entries must have a minimum pre-condition of Asian Premiere that is not screened in Asian countries before the 19th Jeonju International Film Festival,
  • Subtitles language: English

Premiere Requirements

Continental premiere required.
