International film festival in Goa, India.

About

It is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. Held annually in the beach town of Goa, in the Western Coast of the country, the festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos.

The programme of the Festival will be divided into the following broad categories:

  • International Competition for Feature Films by Directors from All Continents;
  • Non Competition for feature films from around the world;
  • Retrospectives, Tributes, Country Focus & other Specially curated packages (Indian & Foreign ) and Premieres;
  • Technical Workshops/Master classes/other Interactive & Academic sessions/Panel Discussions;
  • Film Bazaar (Film Market organized by the National Film Development Corporation of India).

 

Awards

  • Best Film: A cash prize of Rs. 40,00,000/- to be shared equally between the Director and Producer. Director to be given the Golden Peacock and a Certificate in addition to the cash component. Producer will get a Certificate in addition to the cash component;
  • Best Director: Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 15,00,000/-.;
  • Best Actor(Male): Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000/-.;
  • Best Actor (Female): Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000/-.;
  • Special Jury Award: Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 15,00,000/- (To be given to a film or for an individual’s artistic contribution to a film; if given to a film, it will be awarded to the Director of the film);
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Certificate and a cash prize of Rs.10,00,000/-
    (To be given to an individual for his/her outstanding contribution to world cinema)
  • Centenary Award: Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs.10,00,000/-
    (To be given to a feature film that reflects a new paradigm in motion pictures in terms of aesthetics, technique or technological innovation).Feature films falling in the categories of Competition, Cinema of the World and Indian Panorama will qualify for this award.

Rules

The festival is devoted mainly to feature films only. Documentary, and animation films may sometimes be included only in Retrospective, Tributes and other special sections, or under exceptional considerations.

International Competition:

  • Films must be feature films (not less than 70 min.); 
  • They must have been completed between September 1, 2022 and 31st August 2023.
  • Except for Indian films, the entries in this section should not have been released/ shown in India or presented in any other Indian Film Festivals before.

Non Competition: 

  • Films must be fiction, feature length films not less than 70 minutes; 
  • It should have been completed after January 1, 2022.

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • Download, print and fill outentry form;
  • Send DVD with the film and entry form by mail. 

The Directorate of Film Festivals will insure the prints against damage, partial and total, by fire, theft or any other unnatural causes from the moment it takes delivery of the prints to the moment it hands them back to the concerned airline/agency for dispatch, in conformity with Addendum 1 of the FIAPF Regulations for International Film Festivals.
