Insomnia International Animation Film Festival

About

Animation festival «Insomnia» – is the first Russian noncommercial open-air animation festival. Annually, on summer we find a meadow, build screens, meet guests and show best animation within a couple of nights.

Our ambitious goal is to get acquainted as many people as possible with good animation. We think, that for “right perception” open-skies and darkness, that appear as a result of the Earth motion, are necessary. Only such darkness could return us back to ourselves, unglue from illusions and rush of civilization. And what is more, we just help to “animation-goers” to meet and have a good time.

Awards

Each year, the Insomnia International Animation Film Festival recognizes excellence in filmmaking in several categories with the prestigious Insomnia Prizes.

Prize List:

• The Grand Prize of the Insomnia Festival and $1000 - for the best film of the competition (all categories) 
• The Debyutoria Prize and $500 - for the best student or graduated film 
• The Profnastil Prize and $500 - for the best professional film 
• The Equilibristics Prize and $500 - for the best non-narrative or experimental film of the competition (all categories)

Rules

• Apply through FilmFreeway or Festhome. 
• Short animated films by any animation technique, created not earlier than 1 January 2023, are accepted.
• Animated series, trailers and clips will not be accepted for participation in the Contest. 
• If the title is in the national language, the author’s translation of the title into English or Russian languages should be provided. 
• Along with the work, the following should be submitted: Information about the creative team and production studio, a brief description (synopsis) of the film; Demo footage illustrating the work; The text for the subtitles with timecode. 
• Screening format: Full HD. Preferred format – H.264 (.mov .avi) with a high bitrate.
