About

The PiterDOC is the first international youth festival in Russia entirely dedicated to documentaries featured by young authors (18-35 years old).

The project includes competition program, workshops, pitching, judging panel, creation of best works anthology and its distribution as well as echo screenings in schools, universities and studios.

Young documentarians nowadays are deprived of decent support and access to professional equipment and halls needed for socially significant projects implementation.

The Festival provides them with a great opportunity to assert themselves and get professional jury assessment.

The Awards are given in the following nominations:

–Festival Grand Prix;

–Best Documentary Film;

–Best Experimental Documentary Film;

–Best Directing;

–Special Jury Award;

–Student Jury Award.

Diplomas are given in the following nominations:

–Best Cinematography;

–Best Sound Design.

Rules

Terms and Conditions

The main requirements for competitive entries:

1. The Festival accepts documentary films only.

2. Directors aged 18 to 35 y.o. can enter the Festival, when it is launched.

3. Films submitted shall be finished after January 1, 2024.

4. The Festival accepts films with up to the 60 minutes’ runtime. The minimal runtime varies.

5. Participation is free of charge.

How to Apply

1. The application process organized on the FilmFreeway platform.

2. An author provides the following:

– information about the film – country, year of production, title and film brief synopsis in Russian and English, 3 movie stills, trailer, poster;

– information about a director and film crew, a director’s photo, Russian subtitles for films that are not in Russian;

– a link to watching and downloading a film for screening with the technical requirements met (herebelow).

3. A link to watching and downloading a film shall meet the following Festival’s technical requirements:

– file format mp4, codec h.264;

– resolution 1920*1080;

– progressive 25fps (1080p25) or interlace 50 fps (1080i50), Field Dominance: Upper or Upper Field First;

– quality 20mbps;

– audio 24 bit, 48000 Hz, stereo, no compression.

Application period is from December 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026.
