About

The Hamptons International Film Festival was founded to celebrate Independent film - long, short, fiction and documentary - and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers to our audiences. The Festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all.

Awards

Special Jury Award for best student film - Cash Award Value: 500 U.S. Dollar.

Golden Starfish Prizes:

  • The Narrative Feature Jury Prize — goods and services valued at over $130,000 to be used toward the making of his or her next feature film and a cash prize of $3,000.
  • The Documentary Feature Jury Prize — goods and services valued at over $25,000 to be used toward the making of his or her next feature film and a cash prize of $3,000.
  • Short Film Award: $500 cash and qualification for consideration at the Academy Awards.

  • The Zicherman Family Foundation Award  — 10,000 U.S. Dollar (all categories)
  • The Brizzolara Family Foundation   5000 U.S. Dollar (all categories)
  • The Zelda Penzel Giving Voice to the Voiceless Award — 2,500 U.S. Dollar (all categories)
  • The Victor Rabinowitz & Joanne Grant Award For Social Justice   2,000 U.S. Dollar (all categories)
  • Suffolk County Film Commission Next Exposure Grant — 3,000 U.S. Dollar (all categories)

Rules

  • Shorts: under 40 min.,
  • Feature: over 40 min.,
  • Films must have been completed after January 1, 2023;
  • The Hamptons will not consider previously submitted films;
  • Feature films may not have been released theatrically or shown online or television in the U.S. prior to the festival; 
  • Short Films may not have been released theatrically or on television in the U.S. prior to the festival. If the film has screened online, the filmmaker is required to include this information in the film's submission materials;
  • Films may not have screened on the East End of Long Island prior to The Hamptons dates. If there are any questions regarding premiere status, please contact the Festival at programming@hamptonsfilmfest.org; 
  • The Hamptons presents all films in their original language. Non-English language films must have English subtitles;
  • If you are submitting a work-in-progress, the DVD or link must be clearly marked as a work-in-progress or rough cut. Only one version of the film may be considered, and replacement cuts are not accepted, so please keep this in mind when deciding when to submit; 

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • Submission via the Filmfreeway is available.
  • A secure Vimeo link is the preferred submission method for all films.
  • DCP is the preferred exhibition format for the festival.
