International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

About

Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is held annually in the last week of March in Kyiv. On completion, Docudays UA traditionally presents the best movies in the regions of Ukraine within the Docudays UA Travelling Festival. Films are demonstrated from October to December (inclusive). 

Festival is non-political and non-profit. Entrance to all film screenings is free of charge.
The main purpose of the Festival is raising the level of Ukrainian documentary films, promotion of an open dialogue on moral problems in society, human rights, understanding of human dignity as the supreme value, creating the foundation for democratic future of the country.

Non-Competition:

  • DOCU/UKRAINE - Ukrainian documentary films;
  • DOCU/BEST - The best from international human rights documentary film festivals;
  • DOCU/ART - Documentaries about art and artists; 
  • DOCU/CLASS - International Documentary Filmmaking Workshop;
  • Presentations of diverse International film festivals;
  • Retrospective screenings;
  • Special events (conferences, round tables, thematic sections, master classes by leading experts in documentary filmmaking and human rights, discussions, seminars, workshops, photo exhibitions, etc.).

Awards

  • DOCU/WORLD Competition Jury Award. 1500 euro
  • DOCU/SHORT Competition Jury Award. 1500 euro
  • DOCU/UKRAINE Competition Jury Award. 1500 euro
  • Andriy Matrosov Award (established by the Organizing Committee. Andriy Matrosov was the Festival producer. He perished in traffic accident on February 16, 2010). 1500 euro
  • Students Jury Award.
  • Audience Award (by results of the audience inquiry).

Organizations or private persons are welcome to present their own special awards (prizes).

Rules

  • Films are to be made in 2023 – 2024 years.
  • For international competition programs films are allowed, if they were not screened earlier in competition programs of other Ukrainian festivals, on Ukrainian TV, Ukrainian cinema and internet either. 

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • Fill out an entry form.
  • Provide online screener or send in your film together with printed out and signed еntry form.

Additional Information

Directors, scriptwriters or producers of the films selected for participation in competition are invited as the Festival participants. The Organizing Committee covers their accommodation, meal and travel expenses, and gives no per diem payments. At the Festival expense, only one representative from each film or project may be invited. All decisions on the Festival guests, jury members, or trainers are approved by the Organizing Committee.
