AniFest

About

This specialized competition festival of animated production builds on the famous tradition of Czech animated film and offers a unique opportunity to become familiar with the best of contemporary world and Czech animation work. The aim of the festival is to annualy bring thoughtfully curated selection from the best of contemporary animated film, systematically present the work of big personalities from the history of animation in retrospectives and in selections of various national productions. For this reason AniFest also colaborates with many other world festivals of (not only) animated film. The fetival is also part of the Cartoon EU organization and every year nominates a candidate for the Cartoon d’Or prize.

• International Competition of Short animated Films up to 5 Minutes in Length;
• International Competition of Short animated Films from 5 to 15 Minutes in Length;
• International Competition of Short animated Films from 15 to 60 Minutes in Length;
• International Competition of Feature-length Animated Films;
• International Competition of Student Animated Films;
• International Competition of Animated Television Films and Series;
• International Competition of Animated Commercials and Jingles (this category also includes instructional films, titles (credits) sequences, social, ecological and other spots, science films and simulations etc.);
• International Competition of Animated Music Video;
• International Competition of Non-narative and Experimental Animated Videos (up to 60 minutes long).

In addition to the competitive and non-competitive film events, the festival includes various theatre performances, exhibitions, concerts and discussions, parties and other cultural and social events.

Awards

• AniFest Grand Prix (1,000 EUR);
• Best Short Animated Film up to 5 Minutes Award (1,000 EUR);
• Best Short Animated Film from 5 to 15 Minutes Award (1,000 EUR);
• Best Short Animated Film from 15 to 60 Minutes Award (1,000 EUR);
• Best Feature Animation Film Award (1,000 EUR);
• Best Student Film Award (900 EUR);
• Best Non-narrative/Experimental Animated Film Award (250 EUR);
• Best Animated Television Film/Series Award (250 EUR);
• Best Animated Music Video Award (200 EUR);
• Best Animated Commercial/Jingle Award (200 EUR).

Jury has the right to not award a prize, just as it has the right to award an additional Special Jury Mention in addition to the above listed awards.

Rules

Restirctions

Over 50% of the film’s running time must consist of animation.

The film must have been completed after January 1, 2023 and not entered in the Festival Statutory Competition in any previous years.

Films with inappropriate content won’t be accepted (e. g. pornographic, Nazi or racist, affecting religious or minority rights).

Documents and Other Requisite Items

• fill out the on-line entry on the festival's website form;
• submit the film by online submission system;
• submit by online submission system: CV of the director in Czech or English,1 photo of the director (in print quality, min. 300 dpi), 1 still from the film in print quality (min. 300 dpi), a short synopsis of the film in Czech or Englishup (up to 350 characters), a dialogue list in Czech or English. Only data format bmp, jpg, doc, odt, txt are acceptable.
