About

This annual independent festival dedicated to seeking out and presenting innovative modes of visual communication exists in a context in which short film is not merely a step to the first feature, but can be viewed as an authentic work of art.

In its programmes the festival seeks for the innovative, experimental, unseen or long-forgotten in the film world. And when selecting films for the competition programmes the festival searches for works with an individual and unique signature, creativity, aesthetic and technical performance corresponding to the artistic idea.

Awards

• «Golden Anna» statuette for the winners of  International Short Film Competition and International Mid-length Competition
• «Gypsum Anna» for the winner of Baltic Short Film and categories such as «Best Animation», «Best Documentary», etc.
• Special mentions

Rules

• All films and videos of all genres not exceeding 30 minutes for short films and 30 − 60 minutes for the mid-length film competition are accepted. In exceptional cases the festival reserves the rights to accept films of longer duration.
• All films must be produced in the time period of the last two years (2020−2021).
• One film can be submitted to only one category — International OR Baltic competition. 
• There is no limit for the amount of films submitted by one director, producer, distributor, film school, etc.
• Festival accepts films that have been screened in other festivals but holds the rights to prioritize films with Latvian festival premiere.
• Fill out and submit the entry form on filmfreeway. Add a link to the film and, if necessary, the password - for the film selection process we accept secure online screeners only (e.g. youtube, vimeo, dropbox), no files will be downloaded at this stage (e.g. no WeTransfer);

Documents and materials:

• Synopsis of the film in English;
• A complete dialogue list if available [if the film is in English or Latvian, preferably with the time codes];
• English subtitles [if the film is in a language other than English or Latvian];
• A link to the trailer and press kit (if available);
• Information about the director, producer and the film crew;
• Film access link (e.g. youtube, vimeo, dropbox) and password; 

NB! For the film selection stage festival doesn't accept files that require a download (e.g. WeTransfer) - only viewable secure online screeners (Youtube, Vimeo, Dropbox, etc)!
