The Russian Vostok station in Antarctica is an absolute cold pole. The station was built in 1957 on the South Geomagnetic Pole of the Earth. It’s a unique science area where the biggest subglacial lake on the planet is located and where the ancient ice was found, which allowed to retrace the history of the climate of the Earth for the last 420,000 years. A few years ago, the work on the construction of a new ultramodern Antarctic station was started here.
