Taipei Film Festival

About

With around 100,000 attendees and about 180 films from over 35 countries worldwide being screened each year, the festival has become one of the most influential film festival in the Chinese-speaking world. Each year, 12 films are selected to compete in the International New Talent Competition, the only international feature-length competition in Taiwan, which was established to encourage talented and emerging filmmakers who have recently completed their first or second feature, and to provide a platform for new voices from across the world. Through this competition, and the visits of international filmmakers, the Festival aims to stimulate and inspire future directors and their work.

Awards

• Grand Prize - NT$ 600,000 (approx. USD$20,000) plus one trophy;
• Special Jury Prize - NT$ 300,000 (approx. USD$ 10,000) plus one trophy;
• Audience’s Choice Award - one trophy.

A 20% tax will be taken from the prize of non-Taiwanese award winners.

Rules

To be eligible for the International New Talent Competition a film must be:

• a director’s first or second feature. Must have minimum length of 70 minutes and be available as 35mm print or DCP.
•  Premiered after April 2rd, 2021.
• Taiwan premiere (except Taiwan productions).
