About

The most significant and most active festival in the presentation of American independent films, and therefore the appropriate platform for an expansion into the German-speaking market. In other ways as well, the festival devotes itself to independent film. Up-and-coming German creative talents are regularly in attendance here. A pleasant and laid-back festival with a lively atmosphere.

Awards

• German Independence Award - Audience Award (Euro 2 500);
• The «Seymour Cassel Award» for an outstanding performance;
• German Independence Award - Best Short Film (Euro 500).

Rules

• Previous participation in other festivals is possible;
• Independent program: German premiere preferred (German films: no previous theatrical release in Germany);
• Shorts: up to 49 min; Features: longer than 49 min.
• Subtitles language: English

Documents and Other Requisite Items

• Submit film using the web service Filmfreeway.
• Preview DVD (PAL or NTSC) should be sent. Festival accepts also secure online screener like vimeo.

Along with the screener we welcome you to send us the following material: 

• a detailed synopsis of the film 
• the biography, filmography and a recent photo of the director 
• photographs or transparencies of the film 
• press materials and posters 
• a listing of the film's participation and awards received at any other film festivals. 

The festival agrees to cover the cost of shipping and insuring prints in both directions. The exceptions are shipment to or from other festivals, in which case standard practice of cost sharing will apply, and short films, in which case the festival only covers the cost for returning the print.
