The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival celebrates the achievements of Asian Pacific American and Asian international cinema artists.

Established in 1983 by Visual Communications – the nation's premier Asian Pacific American media arts organization – The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival is Southern California's premier showcase for film and mediaworks by Asian Pacific American and Asian international cinema artists.

The Festival's highlights include a Gala Opening and Closing Night Celebration, a Festival Centerpiece presentation, a full complement of filmmaker seminars and workshops, and a variety of special events. 

Awards

Awards for feature films:

• Grand jury award – feature narrative film 
  • Presented to select feature-length Asian Pacific American narrative films
• Grand jury award – international feature narrative film 
  • Presented to select feature-length Asian International narrative films
• Grand jury award – feature documentary film 
  • Presented to select feature-length Asian Pacific American documentary films
• Audience award 
  • Presented to an audience favorite feature-length film, as chosen by audience ballot

Awards for short films:

• Festival golden reel award 
  • Presented to a short film that demonstrates overall excellence in content and cinematic technique
• Linda Mabalot new directors/new visions award 
  • Presented to a short film that demonstrates an innovative and creative use of cinematic language 

Rules

• Films and mediaworks by and/or about Asian Pacifics with themes involving, but NOT limited to, Asian Pacific American and/or Asian Pacific diasporic culture, history and experiences
• All submitted works should have been completed on or after January 1, 2023
• Signed entry form, screener, press kit and entry fee must be filed via FilmFreeway.com
• The Film Festival accepts all entry materials electronically; physical DVD screeners are strongly discouraged
• Physical entry materials will NOT be returned
• ALL submissions for site-specific and transmedia productions MUST BE accompanied by a detail proposal for how the work should be exhibited
• Visual Communications Members at the Filmmaker level submit for FREE

Submission format: Password-protected Vimeo (NTSC-format, 720p optimal) preferred, or secured online screener

Subtitles: Invited entries in language(s) other than English must be subtitled in English
