The Guanajuato International Film Festival is Latin America's largest, most competitive and prestigious film festival. Acting as a platform for launching new careers, national and international competition pits newcomers alongside the industry's most seasoned veterans. Festival have created a wonderful atmosphere of camaraderie and respect where new and aspiring filmmakers mix with industry professionals in a very open, accessible and competitive environment. For 2011 edition alone, organizers received over 2,400 films from more than 100 countries for competition.
Awards
The Guanajuato International Film Festival shall give each of the participants selected for competition during the festival a diploma. The winners shall receive either cash prizes or materials granted bysponsors (film, developing services, transfer services, equipment rental for additional filming) and trophies.
Recipients of the festival’s prizes in the categories of Short Fiction and Short Animation will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the Annual Academy Awards.
