About
The International Film Festival of Tàrrega and Ponent - Galacticat - is a generalist and popular film festival, with a clear educational vocation and which undertakes the mission of programming classic and contemporary cinema, fiction and documentary in feature and short film format, organized in seven competitive sections and three parallel sections and with a strong commitment to new creators and emerging talent.
Galacticat was born in 2014 as an initiative to recover the universal classics of science fiction cinema for the general public and to delve deeper into this culture that has articulated the universe of cinema since its inception.
Over the years it has evolved from exhibition to festival and from genre to generalist, involving in each new edition more and more fellow citizens of Tàrrega, Terres de Ponent, the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of the world, in this film festival that welcomes visitors and cinephiles from all over and that for seven days becomes a space for coexistence, transmission and values around cinema and art.
The FICTP - GALACTICAT - has become a new network for personal and professional growth for filmmakers, creators, the industry and the general public and has established the foundations of a new movement in the Territory around cinema, not only as a cultural tool that articulates our society, but also as a new sector that must help guarantee the survival of the territorial social fact through culture.

Rules
1) Films.
GALACTICAT accepts real image or animation fiction and documentary short films with a maximum duration of 30 minutes that will be included in one of our five competitive categories: Fantastic, Free Genre, Animation, Terror and Documentary.
GALACTICAT accepts real image or animation fiction and documentary feature films with a maximum duration of 150 minutes that will be included in one of our two competitive categories: Best Feature Film and Best Documentary Film.
To be selected, the films must have been produced and concluded the same year or the year before of every edition.
2) Selection.
A selection committee will decide which films will participate in the Festival at its own discretion. The committee is not obliged to justify its decision. The committee’s decision will be final.
3) Film Language.
The festival has an international character so films originary from any country in the world can be accepted and selected, but FILMS IN ANY LANGUAGE OTHER THAN SPANISH OR CATALAN MUST HAVE SPANISH OR CATALAN SUBTITLES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION. If you have no choice to translate your dialogs, you can submit your film and send your dialogs to us, in .srt format. If the film is selected we will translate your subtitles for free.
4) Screening format.
For screening purposes, selected films must be available on digital files (H.264) and full resolution. We will build our own DCP.
