About

The idea of the  International filmfestival of Arctic countries «ARCTIC OPEN» is to unite the filmmakers from the countries of the Arctic Territories.

Countries participating: Russia, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, USA.

Preference is given to films that reveal the themes of the development of national culture, the formation of personality and the search for spiritual and moral orientations in a modern, globalizing world; cooperation between nature and man.

Mainly, attraction of attention to natural, historical and cultural objects of the Arctic; to the culture and traditions of small indigenous peoples of the North; creative activity of man in the Arctic.

Rules

All Russian films submitted to the selection panel must have English subtitles and all international releases Russian subtitles. Applying is free.

Arctic Open welcomes full-length feature films (max. duration: 60 min), shorts (max. duration: 30 min) and documentaries (max. duration: 90 min) made in 2024-2025. Shortlisted films should be presented in DCP format.

Premiere Requirements

National premiere required.

Co-organizer of the film festival - Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov. Dates of the event - December 4-7, 2025, Arkhangelsk / Severodvinsk / Novodvinsk / Arkhangelsk Region
