It is an adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s short story “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man”. Since he was a child Ridiculous Man was called insane. He tells how he decided to commit suicide and how he changed his mind. Just before shooting himself he falls asleep and dreams about a life on another planet, a planet where people do not sin. When he wakes up he realizes that he has seen the “truth” and has to preach.
