Greenpeace icebreaker Arctic Sunrise on September 18th, 2013 approached Gazprom's drilling rig Prirazlomnaya in the Barents Sea. 30 activists protesting against oil drilling in the Arctic had been seized and sent to Russian prison. The state first tried to accuse them of terrorism, then of piracy and finally of hooliganism. State media labelled them «spies», «extremists», «green fascists» and many other horrible words, while environmentalists’ supporters attacked Gazprom for corruption and «destroying the Arctic», and the state — for «totalitarianism» and «imperial ambitions». To tell the real story of the famous Prirazlomnaya action we had to abandon all stereotypes. We talked with the dozens of characters from both sides of the conflict, when they were scattered around five continents and when they gathered all together in the middle of the Arctic ocean.
