Excavator operator Fedya's girlfriend leaves him, accusing him of being selfish. Fedya wants to prove that he is not selfish and decides to do a good deed. He notices an open manhole without a cover on the street and covers it with his excavator bucket to save children and passers-by from injuries before the weekend, but something goes wrong.
Directors Statement
The film "Good Deed" is shot in the comedy genre. I wanted to show in a light, unobtrusive form that people, blaming each other, sometimes do not notice their own shortcomings. The main characters are equally selfish, but, having parted, they understand that they do not want to lose each other. They try to change, go through certain trials, suffer from this, realize that they cannot live without each other. Having suffered and changed, they still return to each other. There were many difficulties in the filming process, because this was my first film, and it immediately included an excavator, a manhole cover and a construction site. It was difficult to organize and find the necessary locations. When we found the necessary construction site, we found the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius at Moscow State University right next to it, where the manhole cover and a playground were located. However, the wall around the playground needed repair and painting. We also did a good deed by painting and restoring 80 square meters of wall in exchange for permission to film. It was difficult to find an actor for the role of a worker, since this role was associated with great risk. But the famous digger Daniil Davydov responded to it, who performed all the actions in the frame without insurance. Also, many children participated in the film, although we were warned that it would be difficult to work with them. Despite this, working with children was a pleasure. There were two shifts for filming the film, and the weather really let us down. The summer of 2024 turned out to be full of thunderstorms: each shift was accompanied by an apocalypse in the literal sense. But we miraculously managed to film everything in between thunderstorms and successfully coped with all the other difficulties.
