Fortunes of two people were twined together in Moscow — fates that had many dramatic turns, including victimization by the German Nazi during the world war and pogroms organized by nowadays nationalists. She is a certified nurse, an Uzbek from Kyrgyzstan, who came to Russia as a migrant laborer. She sustains life in an old Moscow intellectual — a writer who was born in a Jewish town of Mogilev in Belarus. Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine were milestones of their heavy fates. And Russia that saved them and regenerated them in the spiritual understanding of what is real human internationalism.
