I’ve been nursing “Petition 1001” for 2 years. The script went through several rewrites. The first version was called “Angel of time”, and it got into the finals of script pitching of “Beginning” festival. Then, as I attended “Cinema league”, the script transformed, reflecting my manifesto more and more: “Strive to value the minutiae of life.” Working on this film, I discovered a certain trait in myself – I work through half-tones. I’ve heard this from actors, when I described their goals, from color correction specialist, sound director and others. I would always tell them to wait for things to come. In the scene at hand, you have to savor this particular moment, live in it. So is in real life. We’re always hurrying along. And as a result, we see no meaning in life. And then we realize that all the important bits are already in the past – first love, first kiss, first dance. Think back to the way you were, doing something for the first time… How do you preserve that vivid feeling for as long as possible? The older we get, the more we want to go back to our youth, to the genuine feeling of simple happiness. But we can’t. However, I hope that, watching this film, every viewer is going to remember playing in the rain. And maybe, after watching this, they’ll look at the mundane things with different eyes. I feel that we all need such angel that would teach us to savor life at the edge of the moment.
