Directors Statement

In my opinion, service workers are an extremely interesting subject for documentary film. A lot of people pass through them during the working day. There are different characters, different stories and different approaches to each of them. The first episode of our series is about a hairdresser. A person is usually in a constant frenzy and fast rhythm, and when he sits in the barber's chair, he seems to slow down and turn to himself. It is interesting to watch. The hero of our movie, Ilya Mitryakov, won over every client and established contacts with very different people. Especially for the filming we developed a design in the form of a box with a Gesell mirror, which from the outside looks like an ordinary hairdresser's mirror and from the inside is transparent glass. By placing cameras inside, we were able to achieve an amazing effect: unnoticeable surveillance, which gave us interesting stories and beautiful portraits of the clients.
