IDFF Flahertiana will hold an International Pitching for documentary filmmakers

Held during the 17th International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana, Flahertiana Forum is a five-day project which stands for promoting documentary film projects at the early stage of development to the international market. Documentary film projects by filmmakers from countries of the Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) and Russia are welcomed to participate.

The first part of Flahertiana Forum is the Training for film students and beginning filmmakers (September 16 — 18, 2017). The participants of the Training will work on their projects with the tutors, visit the lectures of the IDFF Flahertiana International Jury Members, have the opportunity to see the documentaries from all over the world screened at the Festival venues and to become the participants or observers of real pitching event. Tutors of the training are:

  • Dorota Rozskowska (Poland),
  • Cay Wesnigk (Germany),
  • Ira Kormannshaus (Germany),
  • Boris Karadzhev (Russia),
  • Jörg Langer (Germany), 
  • Daniel Sponsel (Germany).

The second part of Flahertiana Forum is the 2-day Pitching (September 19 — 20, 2017) which participants will be chosen from the Training by tutors and from the experienced filmmakers who applied to participate. Projects will be presented to potential co-producers and distributors from Europe and Russia. The list of experts will be announced additionally.

Participants: 50 projects made by documentary directors and producers from countries of the Eastern Partnership and Russia.

Participation fee: free of charge.

Stipendium: 22 participants of the Training and 12 participants of the Pitching will get the Stipendium which covers the expenses for travel and accommodation.


The submission deadline is July, 15 (you can apply here).The results of the selection will be announced on August, 10 through the website of the IDFF Flahertiana.
