About

Jihlava IDFF is the largest festival for creative documentary films with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe. It draws attention to socially relevant projects that possess innovative style and imagery, as well as a certain depth of reflection and confrontation. In addition, the festival offers screenings dedicated to experimental cinema and hosts various industry events for film professionals. East Silver Market is the most important project of the current festival. 

Awards

• Best World Documentary - Opus Bonum;
• Best Central and Eastern European Documentary Film - Between the Seas;
• Best Czech Documentary Film - Czech Joy;
• Best student documentary film from Central and Eastern Europe;
• Best international feature documentary debut film;
• Best international experimental film;
• Best Czech experimental film;
• Best international short documentary film;
• Best international documentary film with political and historical implications, ecology and environmental issues

Rules

• Documentary and hybrid films and experimental documentary films. Also submissions of animated documentaries, online documentary projects or any of the cross-genre TV formats (docudrama, docusoap, reality show or mockumentary) are accepted.
• The length of the film is not important, we accept submissions of both feature and short-length documentaries. Also, we accept documentary series.
• Works that were finished in 2023 or 2024. As for films produced earlier, only those are eligible for submission that have not been made and premiered in Europe.
• World, international or European premiere is a condition for screenings in the following sections:

1. Opus Bonum
2. First Lights
3. Between the Seas
4. Fascinations
5. Short Joy

• National premiere is a condition for screenings in the following sections:

1. Czech Joy
2. Fascinations – Exprmntl.cz
3. Testimonies
4. Constellations
5. Special Event

Documents and Other Requisite Items

• Submit completed Entry form;
• Provide an online link with the film preview or 1 DVD copy, in case of submission also to East Silver, provide 2 DVDs.

Screening Media Type: DCP, 35 mm, 16 mm, video file, Blu-ray, Beta SP, and digibeta.
