Santa Monica Teen Film Festival

International short teen film festival.

About

Its purpose is to showcase and provide an outlet for the creative talents of teen filmmakers, as well as encourage youth to use the art of filmmaking as a form of creative expression and commentary on the world in which they live. Although the festival is open to films by teens from around the globe, the public screenings take place in Santa Monica.

This year we are pleased to announce a partnership with the Relativity School of Film, Media and the Performing Arts. The overall winner of the Festival will be given a FULL SCHOLARSHIP to their 3 week summer film school intensive. (A value of $3,500!).

Awards

1st Place in each category. Value of Goods/Services: 150 U.S. Dollar.

Prizes include trophies, Gift certificates and meetings with industry professionals. Overall Festival winner will receive a full scholarship to the Relativity School of Film, Media and Performing Arts 3 week summer intensive in Los Angeles. (Value $3,500)

Rules

  • The Annual Santa Monica International Teen Film Festival is open to all filmmakers born between 1/1/1999 and 1/1/2005.
  • Projects completed after 01-Feb-2013.
  • Submissions are to be made via Withoutabox system.

We accept any genre of Live action - horror, drama, comedy - and the film can be any length between 60 seconds and 30 minutes.

Animated films can be traditional animation, computer animation, stop-motion animation or other forms. They can be as short as 60 seconds or as long as 30 minutes.

Documentaries can be about any topic. They generally do not use live actors or a 'script'. They inform the audience about a place, event or program and usually involve interviews with and about the subject. Length between 60 seconds and 30 minutes.
