About

Defined as a platform of activity for the creation and promotion of authorial projects in the field of cinema and audiovisual independents, Rios – International Festival of Documentary Film and Transmedia aims at:

• Providing visibility, in serving as a promotional platform, to film and audiovisual work whose aesthetics approach is related to the reality of the river;
• Serving as a working platform for deep reflection on the reality of the thematic documentary film;
• Fostering the creation of authorial projects that promote aesthetics, in the discovery of new territories, new styles and new means of support that might define the reality of Rios (Rivers);
• Contributing to the promotion of early works and documentaries by undergraduate students within this field;
• Fostering the creation of inter-university partnerships within the field of cinema and audiovisual documentary.

Program

• Feature film documentary,
• Short-film documentary,
• University documentary – made as a component of an academic degree,
• Animated documentary,
• Documentary and new media – audiovisual productions, installations, video-art, films by/for mobile phones of variable duration which, using non-traditional formats and techniques, explore new concepts of creation and communication of the documentary image.

Awards

The jury of the various categories cannot award more than two prizes for the same film.

The prizes of Rios – International Festival of Documental Cinema and Transmedia consist of a trophy and a certificate.

• Documentary Prize University.
