Open Place

About

The aim of the International Short Film Festival “Open Place” in Rezekne (Latvia) is to promote films of the Baltic Sea Region countries, to encourage sharing of experience among young and talented professionals of film industry, as well as to endorse popularity of Rezekne city. The venue of the festival is the modern multifunctional concert hall Latgalian Embassy “GORS” in the very centre of the city.

During the festival week, the visitors are offered both to enjoy the competition screenings of short films, and to participate in range of events – concerts, theatre performances, discussions.

• “The Best Script”,
• “The Best Photography”,
• “The Best Actress”,
• “The Best Actor”, 
• “Grand Prix”: 1000 EUR. 

The winners receive diplomas and statuettes by the artist Artis Adijans. One of the contestants receive a special award of the Rezekne City Council.

Rules

• Films that are produced during the last two years.
• Several films by one director can be submitted.

In order to apply:

• Fill and submit online application form at the festival website;
• In the application form, indicate a link to the film and password. At the film selection stage, services like YouTube, Vimeo, or Dropbox are accepted;
• Include short film synopsis in English (max 300 words);  information about director, producer, and film crew; 2-3 stills from the film or the poster (jpg, min 1.2 MB). 

Screening format: DCP.

Subtitle language: English.

Jury and Organizers

Jury:
Each year the festival films are evaluated by the international jury.

Organizers:
The founder and organizer of the festival is Rezekne City Council and the municipal agency “Rezekne Culture and Tourism Centre”.
