East End Film Festival

Years running: 21 (since 2001)

East End Film Festival

International Film Festival.

One of the UK's largest film festivals, the East End Film Festival is an annual multi-platform festival which presents a rich and diverse programme of international premieres, industry masterclasses, free pop-up screenings and immersive live events. The EEFF’s mission is to discover, support, and exhibit pioneering work by global and local independent filmmakers, and to introduce viewers to innovative and challenging cinematic experiences.

  • Best Feature: reserved for first and second features, the festival’s Competition Selection will be awarded to one outstanding feature film, with the film’s director invited to return to the festival the following year as the EEFF Director-in-Residence.
  • Best Documentary
  • Best UK Short Film
  • The EEFF Short Film Audience Award
  • The EEFF introduced the Accession Award. Related to a particular ‘craft’, this award is presented to someone graduating to a professional career in filmmaking. The EEFF will announce the focus of the 2016 Accession Award in the coming weeks.

  • All submissions must have been completed after January 1, 2015. Feature submissions must not have previously been released in the UK on any format.
  • Whilst the EEFF does not have a specific premiere restriction on submissions, premiere status will be a factor in decisions taken by the programming team, and may comprise a specific condition of an invitation to screen at the festival.
