Faces: Carnegie Mellon International Film Festival

International Student Short Film Competition.


Student Short Film Competition, open to all undergraduate and graduate students at accredited institutions, aims to gather perspectives from a group of diverse student filmmakers and animators from across the world. The film should address the issue of Media, including but not limited to the societal effects of rapid globalized media development, such as violence, (in)justice, identity transformation, voyeurism, obsession, networking, and alienation.

Selected submissions will be played in the Student Short Film Competition Night and will also be posted on the 2013 CMU Faces Official YouTube Channel.


  • Grand Prize: $1000
  • Second Prize: $500
  • Third Prize: $250
  • People’s Choice: $250
  • Honorable Mention


  • Film must be created by a student.
  • Film must be approximately 5-15 minutes in length.
  • Film must have been made between 2018-2020
  • A maximum of two short films may be submitted per director.

Film should include but is not strictly limited to the Faces of Work theme. 

Documents and Other Requisite Items

  • To submit your film, please email your work to cmusfc2019@gmail.com as attachment or via Google Drive.
  • Submission file name must follow: "Film Title_Director's Full Name.ext"
