Dublin Animation Film Festival

International animation short film festival.


Our mission statement is “Animation Film Festivals should be fun and for everyone” and our programme of events will include screenings, workshops and the presentation of the Blackrock Animation Film Festival Awards.


  • Best Irish Short Film,
  • Best International Short Film,
  • Best Irish Student Short Film,
  • Best International Student Short Film,
  • Social Recognition Award – (This award is given to a film that has delivered a social message),

The panel may also present an award for these categories: Best Co-Production, Best Short Film Produced/Animated by a Secondary School or Primary School Level student, Best Film in the Irish Language, Best Comedy or Musical Short Film, Best 2D Animation.


  • Eligible films must have been completed on or after June 1, 2018.
  • The maximum length for an entry is 15 minutes. Longer film entries will be disqualified.
  • We will only accept entries emailed to the email with a completed form, proof of age (if appropriate), that can be viewed via vimeo or another digital link. If officially selected, the entrant may be asked for a file for screening purposes.
