Years running: 23 (since 1999)
International experimental film festival for young filmmakers.
About
Compared to other film festivals for young talents, the backup_festival is not directed primarily at film schools, but students and graduates of art, media and design schools. It thus looks for new approaches to the medium of film and supports creative exploration of the limits and possibilities of the cinematic format. Here it is more about captivating new ideas and innovative ways than about costs and technical perfection.
The festival creates an inspiring space for communication, discussion and reflection where media professionals from around the world can present their projects to the general public and make contacts for future collaboration.
